If you are ever going to improve your giving you must learn how to make your offering exciting! Frankly the offering is the most boring moment of the worship service. Most of the time it is an afterthought. Most leaders never even give any thought to setting up the offering for success much less making it exciting. I believe we must change that and here is how.
You need to Elevator Pitch Your Offerings! An old story goes that a young writer enters an elevator with the producer of a big movie house. The writer has thirty seconds to sell his idea of why the producer should consider his work. There are whole schools of thought that teach people how to make their pitch in thirty seconds. It recognizes that we often have only seconds to make an impression. Can you in thirty seconds tell members why they should give to your church? Every offering time should be used as an elevator pitch to convince members to donate.
The offering in most churches has become simply an automatic thing. The result of this inattention to detail is showing up in a decline in offerings across the nation. As we still battle the effects of the past recession, now more than ever we have to state our case of why our ministries deserve financial support. What are you saying before your offerings that would convince anyone of the importance to give? Start this week giving some thought to the offering. It could result in more money in the plate or basket than ever.
“I don’t have time for that!” I know, you are pressed to the max now as it is and here I am laying one more thing upon you. You are in luck I have done all the work for you!
Every week I give members of The Stewardship Coach an offering talk. All they have to do is print it off, take it to the platform and read from it. Some use it as a base to expand upon. Some simply read it word for word. The point is, they are making the offering exciting, meaningful and most of all impactful.
I am so confident that my offering talks will increase your giving that I will give you your money back if it doesn’t work!

Need more convincing? Read what one client said, “Giving at our church is up in the stratosphere since you started coaching us. Average YTD giving is up more than $70K over the same period last year (18%) and up 10% over 4Q 2013! You are the MAN!” I am the Stewardship Man and I can help you see the same kind of results!
