10 Reasons Your Church Needs An App
I want to give you 10 reasons your church needs an App. If you do not have an app for your church you are missing out on one of the key ways to communicate effectively with people today. As Christians we are to be in the market place of our world making sure our message of Hope is communicated. If you lack the primary tools of engagement how can your message effectively reach your world?
Effective churches make connecting with them as easy as possible. An App can help you achieve this great need. Let me share with you 10 reasons your church needs an App.
Mobile usage is at an all time high! 56% of all Americans have a smartphone. Nearly 50% of emails are read on a mobile device. Mobile is here to stay and your church must be prepared.
Apps are everywhere! Apple this past year announced that they crossed the 900K mark of apps offered in its App Store. Studies show that the average person has 41 apps on their smartphone.
Apps give you a platform upon which to build your message upon. With an App you can build an effective information and communication platform to connect with members and guests. Our App for instance provides multiple venues of use that can maximize your ability to do ministry from a digital perspective.
Apps give you a one button touch to all your portals. One thing we must focus on is ease of use. Recent studies have shown that Americans want fewer and fewer touches to get to where they want to be on the Net. An App allows you to gather all your online activity under one place thus making it easier for your members to access. When access is easy usage goes up.
Apps increase the ability to communicate with your members. One thing I love about apps is the ability it gives you to instantly communicate with your members. A good app, ours for instance, gives you the ability to build out lists for push messaging. Suppose that heavy snow means you need to combine all your services into a later one. Using the app and our push notification you can let everyone know before they get into their cars.
Apps give you an easy way to increase your offerings. Since I am the Stewardship Coach I love this aspect of apps. From anywhere at any time an App can connect people to your giving portal. Studies are showing that more people are using their smartphones for purchases. One way to increase the amount of what your church brings in is to provide multiple platforms upon which people can give.
Apps are inexpensive to set up and use. Apps are not just for large churches!
Apps are easy to use. Once set up an app is easy to use. Don’t be intimidated by this technology. You can learn how to use an app. A well developed app takes the work out of it for you.
Apps show you understand the times we live in. In particularly younger generations live and die by their smartphones. Having an App signifies that you “get it” that we live in a technological age.
Apps open up the possibility to connect with the next generation. Consider this quote from a recent Barna study on Millennials and the use of the technology. It said, “One of the most positive trends among Millennials is that they want faith that is holistically integrated into all areas of life—including their technology. How the Church acknowledges and engages the digital domain—and teaches faithfulness in real-life to young adults as well—will determine much about its long-term effectiveness among Millennials.”
